Tattoo removal methods

By far the most popular way to remove a tattoo at this point is with laser removal. Until recently, the methods used generally involved cutting or scraping of the skin to get tattoo ink out. These are still the methods that often spring to mind when people consider removal. That’s unfortunate, because, except in rare cases, laser removal is the method generally used at this point. There is rarely need to engage in the kinds of traumatic invasive procedures that older methods often involve.

Laser removal depends instead on the delivery of energy to the tattoo ink to break it up so that the body’s immune system can dispose of it. This results in little damage to the skin and little scarring.
